Preventing Homelessness in Canada

On Tuesday, July 5, FCR has the opportunity to help prevent homelessness, support social enterprise and small local businesses and a low income community while having a fun volunteering day.
Raising the Roof is a national homelessness prevention charity. Their main initiative is the Reside program, which renovates vacant real estate into homes for people experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness, while partnering with social enterprises with trades training program for marginalized people to use the construction work as a vehicle to train and employ people with barriers to employment.
Raising the Roof’s social enterprise contracting partner is Building Up. Building Up is working with PlazaPops to create temporary shared community spaces in low income neighbourhoods. More info about PlazaPops: https://vimeo.com/480610337
